William Rodriguez wins Seminole Immokalee AUPT event

William Rodriguez of Lehigh won the March 6 Ante Up Poker Tour event and $1,800 at Seminole Casino Immokalee.

The event drew 40 players.

It was Rodriguez's second points cash of the season. William Burns of Lehigh Acres (6th) also added to his points total.

Al Perez wins Dania Jai-Alai AUPT event

Al Perez of Boca Raton won the March 6 Ante Up Poker Tour event and $664 at Dania Jai-Alai.

The event drew 12 players.

Anet Up Poker Tour points leader Walt Strakowski Jr. of West Palm Beach added to his lead with a 3rd-place finish ($300) and now stands at 6,600 in points.

Also adding to his points totals was Mitchell Abrahams of Miami (6th), who moves into 4th place with 2,625 points.

Tennessee's Rylander wins Delta Gold Main Event at Gold Strike

Dina Rylander of Collierville, Tenn., won two events at the Delta Gold Poker Classic, including the main event on Monday (March 8), worth $54,352 and an entry into Gold Strike’s WPO main event in October.

Ryalander earned entry into the main event by virtue of a victory in Event 5, a $550 NLHE tournament, that paid $17,258 and a seat into the main event.

This annual series attracted nearly 1,550 entrants while generating a $521,000 prize pool.

Virginia's Whistler rallies to win WSOPC undercard event in Atlantic City

Three players tangled for more than four hours at the WSOP circuit tournament held at Caesars Atlantic City before the self-admitted underdog in the fight, a 41-year-old network engineer from Fairfax, Va., named Earnest Whistler, made a startling comeback.

He eliminated two experienced tournament pros (plus the other 660-plus players) to capture the gold ring and top cash prize totaling $53,939.

DeBary, Fla., bans poker rooms

The DeBary (Fla.) City Council on Wednesday voted 3-1 to ban poker rooms in the city, the Daytona Beach News-Journal reports.

The law has no immediate effect, since there are no poker rooms in the city, or even pari-mutuel facilities.

Last year, a developer lost its bid to open a pari-mutuel facility and poker room in the city. Wednesday's action by the council appears to be a defensive bid to let other developers know that they are not welcome in the city.

SunCruz ship to sail again in South Carolina

Myrtle Beach, S.C., will soon get a casino ship to replace the SunCruz ship that sailed at the port until recently folding under financial problems.

Robert Weisberg, a former owner of the SunCruz ship, has formed a new company that is negotiating with the Little River port to return the ship to the area, the Myrtle Beach Sun reports. The ship is undergoing repairs in Florida, but the new company will begin hiring soon.

No word on whether the ship will include a poker room, but Weisberg indicated that it would offer the same games that the SunCruz formerly offered.

Chad Brown Championship TV schedule announced

The TV schedule for the inaugural Chad Brown No-Limit Texas Hold'em Championship has been announced.

The tournament, played at Orange Park Kennel Club near Jacksonville, Fla., in January, was filmed for TV by Fallah Productions Inc., creator of the Windy City Poker Championship. Ante Up publishers Scott Long and Chris Cosenza were hosts and commentators.

The show will debut on Bright House Sports Network in Florida at 10 p.m. on March 28, and later will be broadcast on Cox Cable in Louisiana and Comcast SportsNet in Illinois. The show will also be posted to various Web sites after the debut broadcast.
