Three chosen for Women in Poker Hall of Fame

Professional player Kristy Gazes, El Dorado Casino director of poker operations Margie Heintz and Hollywood Park director of poker operations Phyllis Caro have been selected to join the Women in Poker Hall of Fame this year.

The Women in Poker Hall of Fame was established in 2008 and honors women who have made significant contributions to the world of poker.

Kristy Gazes ranks in the top 20 female earners in poker with more than $1 million in tournament wins. She also had an impressive run cashing in two events in this year’s World Series of Poker. She has been playing professionally for almost 20 years, is a huge supporter the poker industry and wrote a chapter in the new book, Winning Women of Poker.

Margie Heintz was the first woman to deal the World Series of Poker in 1977 and went on to deal the televised final table on CBS’ Wide World of Sports.

Phyllis Caro has held every position one can hold in poker operations since beginning her career in 1979. She has assisted in the writing of several poker books, including Mike Caro’s Book of Tells, Poker for Women, Caro on Gambling and the Mike Caro Quiz Book.

The three will be inducted on Sept. 2 at a public event at the Golden Nugget Casino in Las Vegas.
